Tour Itinerary

DAY 1
Departure to Cagliari

Depart Malta 8:15 am, arrive Cagliari 9:35 am.

Upon arrival your private guide and driver will meet you at the airport. Depart to Nora Archaeological site, one of the most important Phoenician–Roman archaeological sites in Sardinia overlooking the sea. We will see the amazing mosaics, the massive thermal pools and the theatre. Free time for Lunch in Pula (small coastal town). The capital Cagliari, the “City of Sun” takes its nickname from its mild and sunny climate. Enjoy a panoramic drive through Cagliari with photo stops: – Basilica of Bonaria – Monte Urpinu area – Molentargius Natural Park, famous for its pink flamingos. We embark on a guided, relaxed walking tour of the historical city centre: Castello District (medieval quarter): – Cathedral area – ancient walls and picturesque terraces – Historic streets, medieval towers and noble palaces.

Return to the hotel, free time for dinner. Overnight in Cagliari.

DAY 2
Nuraghe Barumini (Su Nuraxi) and Central Sardegna - Oristano

We depart at 9:30 am this morning driving 1 hour to visit the beautiful Su Nuraxi di Barumini. It is the only nuraghe complex in Sardinia designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, visit the nearby Casa Zapata, a noble Spanish mansion of the XVI century, built on the top of a nuraghe, is impressive for the excavation and the small Ethnographic Museum with a section dedicated to the “launeddas,” the wind instrument typical of Sardinia. Stop for picnic lunch in Giara di Gesturi plateau. Visit of the Giara di Gesturi, a volcanic plateau famous for its wild horses. Scenic drive and short, easy walks (no trekking. Transfer to Oristano.

Free time for Dinner and overnight stay in Oristano. Free time to explore Oristano after dinner.

DAY 3
West Coast Villages – Bosa & Alghero

Depart at 9 am for a scenic coastal drive towards Bosa. Enroute, stop in Tinnura, a small village known for its murals and traditional atmosphere. Free Time for lunch break. Afterwards, a guided walk through the colourful historic centre along the river. At 2 pm we continue along the panoramic coastal road to Alghero (one of the most beautiful drives in Sardinia). Late afternoon arrival in Alghero, check-in and a guided walk in the historic centre. Return to the hotel at 19:30.

DAY 4
Alghero & surrounding area

Depart at 9 am for an excursion to Neptune’s Grotto (timing subject to sea conditions). Ferry to reach the caves + Guided visit of the caves. Traditional Sardinian lunch in an agritourism along the route, featuring roasted suckling pig (porceddu). After lunch, we drive to Citadel of Castelsardo, Genoese citadel which still rules the sea with its amazing position. Castelsardo is a picturesque historic town on the northern coast with a fortified castle, Castello dei Doria.

Return to Alghero, free time for dinner.

DAY 5
Inland Villages - Cagliari

Depart at 8:30 am traveling towards central-western Sardinia. Arrival at Siete Fuentes, a picturesque village known for its water springs, located within a forest of holm oaks, oaks and elms. Visit of the Romanesque Church of San Leonardo di Siete Fuentes, whose history is connected to the Order of the Knights of Malta.

Free time for Lunch. After lunch, at 2 pm transfer to Cagliari airport to catch flight back to Malta FR 7049 departing at 18.05 hrs.
