We follow adventurous Athenians to postcard Monemvasia, the Gibraltar of the Peloponnese. We power-lounge in Corfu where beaches and bars are set into jutting cliffs, then squeeze through the Bay of Kotor to tackle the 1, 350 steps up the steep walls of St John’s fortress then. We embrace Croatia’s curvy coast—caerulean Kotor, the assortment of colonnades, columns and sarcophagi in Zadar, and redolent Rovinj—before following the Grand Canal to Harry’s Bar for a Bellini’s and star gazing Saint Mark’s Basilica.
Sail to volcanic islands in a sky-blue sea and the sculpted shores of the Aegean into the Dardanelle Strait. Our first fire giant is Mykonos, where searing sunsets and nightlife sizzle until dawn. The fiery tempo continues in Patmos, once the exile isle of Saint John, now the ultimate vision of summertime ease, before the lyric of the sea carries us to Volvos to perfect the art of sipping tsipouradiko. In the lush light of dawn, Kavala glows like an amphitheatre rising from the sea where the Imaret Mohammed was born and Apostle Paul once preached.
We trade the buzzy heartbeat of Miami for the whisper of waves between the Greater and Lesser Antilles. Step lightly into Cruz Bay during our maiden call to the low-key luxury outpost of the USVI then dash into remote Deshaies for intimacy with nature. A late departure from Bridgetown signals rum sundowners whilst Roseau serves up rainforests and hissing volcanoes and Phillipsburg reveals her clearest, bluest depths in a national marine reserve.
As we glide from Sur de la Florida to the river reeds of Roseau, witness volcanoes snoozing beneath their blankets of thick rainforest. Onwards through Castries’ lush landscapes to the rainbow-flowered gardens of Kingstown and the enchantment of crystalline waters and bright birdlife in Barbados, Trinidad and the British Virgin Islands. Beneath the waves, wondrous reefs and shipwrecks wait to be explored, while on land, the warm welcome of the towns invites you to make sparkling memories as you sway to calypso beats.
