Iceland has been steadily growing in popularity with Maltese and international tourists alike, as it is still a largely untouched country whose trump card for wooing visitors is their breathtaking and pristine natural beauty.
While many do indeed decide to visit Iceland by air, with most visitors only spending time in the capital, Reykjavik, there is now a growing trend of visiting the island nation by means of a cruise which typically start their journeys from Germany or the United Kingdom.
For those who first set foot into Iceland and decide to start with Reykjavik, it is worthy to note that the Icelandic capital is certainly not a large city when compared to other European capitals, however, it still absolutely has some wonderful things to offer! Moving away from the capital and heading into other regions of the country is where one starts to truly see and appreciate the rugged, raw beauty of this Northern European country including some spectacular wildlife particularly along the coastline.
While Iceland indeed does offer a little something for everyone, it certainly sparks the sense of adventure and the outdoors in those who enjoy a more active holiday. Kayaking, hiking, trekking, sailing – you name it, Iceland has it.
There are currently no direct flights between Malta and Iceland, therefore making a stop en-route necessary. Typically flights are via Germany, Scandinavia or the United Kingdom and takes on average 5 to 6 hours to reach Reykjavik. If visiting Iceland is on your bucket list, contact a member of the Hamilton Travel team who will be more than happy to assist with a package as part of our Tailor Made Journeys!
