This general itinerary is ideal for those who wish to experience South Africa for a duration of approximately 10 days.
Your journey starts in South Africa’s biggest city, Cape Town. This city is perhaps one of Africa’s most cosmopolitan and diverse cities. It may be a city, but spectacular wildlife is never far away. A city where wild penguins can be found on beaches not far from the city, or indeed, if you’re feeling a little more daring, shark cage diving is also a popular option. One particular attraction in and around Cape Town is Robben Island, which was Nelson Mandela’s prison for 18 of his 27 year sentence. If you enjoy and appreciate a glass of wine at times, you can also take a day trip to ‘wine country’, which is Stellenbosch. Obviously, when in town, one has got to visit the famous Table Mountain which towers above the city! You’ve experienced South African city life, now on to her exquisite wildlife, by taking a short short to Nelspruit, the gateway to Kruger Park. Home to an abundance of wildlife you can either make this a one-day safari or indeed spend 2 or 3 nights in a lodge right in the park. One can also decide to extend the time and itinerary by adding on a couple of nights in neighbouring Swaziland (now called Eswatini) to truly experience Zulu culture. Departing South Africa and commencing the journey home, you’ll head to Johannesburg, where you can also spend a couple of nights experiencing the city.
Flights are widely available from Malta (with a connection) to Cape Town and also Johannesburg.
We at Hamilton Travel can organise any kind and length of itinerary in South Africa that you wish including a daily guide, with partners on the ground in the country who can provide immediate assistance if required.
