You will meet with your tour leader at Malta International Airport at 11:30AM to check-in for your direct Air Malta flight to Venice at 1:40PM. Upon arrival at 3:25PM, the coach will transfer you to Hotel Radisson Blu Plaza– 4* in Ljubljana for check-in. Dinner at the hotel (optional).
This hotel is around 10 minutes away on foot from the BTC Shopping Centre which is one of the largest shopping and entertainment complexes in Europe, with over 450 shops. It is surely worth a visit!
After breakfast, you will proceed for an optional excursion to the Slovenian capital – Ljubljana. Being a city with a green soul and a high level of environmental awareness, Ljubljana has managed to preserve its green character to the present day. It boasts excellently preserved green spaces and nature even in the heart of the city centre. The soul of the city is the Ljubljanica River crossed by picturesque bridges. You will take a boat ride on the Ljubljanica River (included). Return to the hotel for dinner (optional).
After breakfast you can join a full day optional excursion to Bled famous for its beautiful Lake. The coach will take us to the Castle (entrance included) to see the spectacular view of Lake Bled. You can also take a traditional wooden boat (extra to be paid at ticket office) which takes visitors to the island in the middle of the lake or visit the church (extra). You will then proceed to Vintgar Gorge (included). The 1.6 km long Vintgar gorge carves its way through the vertical rocks of the Hom and Boršt hills and is graced by the Radovna with its waterfalls, pools and rapids. This excursion involves a substantial amount of walking. After the excursion return to the hotel for dinner (optional).
After breakfast you will have an optional excursion to Dolenjska region visiting Novo Mesto. You will visit one etno house (entrance included). Visitors are welcomed by the whole family, wearing the national dress of Dolenjska. You will have a guided tour of the cottage and the wine cellar for the tasting of »cviček«. You will get to know the history of the vine and wine, the wine patrons, wine containers, the wine-growing regions of Slovenia, the ingredients of cviček and its production from early spring till late autumn. You will also raft on the river Krka. You will pass by the manor Kamen and Novi dvor/Neuhof (today part of hospital), the dome of St. Nicholas, which dominates the old medieval town, Breg – the most picturesque motive of Novo mesto, Franciscan monastery and church of St. Leonard. The animators on board and an accordeonist will present themselves to you the Krka river, history of Novo mesto and famous natives, who used to live or work in Novo mesto. You’ll be served with famous local vine – cviček and also with a warm light meal – traditional Ricet (thick soup) (included). Return to hotel for dinner (optional).
Breakfast will be followed by another full day optional excursion. You will make the first stop in the city of Klagenfurt located in southern Austria and surrounded by several forest-covered hills and mountains. The excursion will then take you to Mini Mundus, the miniature world with approximately 150 models of famous structures (entrance extra to be paid at the ticket office). Return to hotel for dinner (optional).
After breakfast you will have an optional excursion to Maribor which is the second largest city in Slovenia. We will then have some free time to enjoy in this city. Maribor offers great restaurants, vibrant nightlife and historical and cultural sights to justify it being a destination in itself for those seeking all the advantages of a large city, complete with the relaxed atmosphere of the countryside. Maribor is located in the northeast of the country, wonderfully nestled in the embrace of the green Pohorje Mountain and the picturesque wine-growing hills. The European Capital of Culture in 2012 and (to some) the Slovenian football capital. Maribor is home to famous festivals and the world’s oldest grape vine. You will proceed to Ptuj which is a city in Eastern Slovenia on the Drava River. It is known for its historic buildings. Rising gently above a wide valley, Ptuj forms a symphony of red-tile roofs. One of the oldest towns in Slovenia, Ptuj equals Ljubljana in terms of historical importance, but the compact medieval core, with its castle, museums, monasteries and churches, can easily be seen in a day. But, there are so many interesting side trips and activities in the area that you may want to base yourself here for a while longer. Entrance to Ptuj castle is included. Return to hotel for dinner (optional).
After breakfast there will be an optional excursion, where you will visit Izola, an old fishing town, and take a boat ride around the coast to reach Piran (included). We will then continue the excursion of this town (on foot) and have some free time for sightseeing. Dinner at the hotel (optional).
Breakfast followed by check-out from the hotel. On the way to Venice, you will stop at Postojna Caves, the longest cave in the country (over 20km) with a temperature of around 8 to 9 degrees celcius. You will have a guided tour of these caves by means of a small train which will last about an hour and a half (entrance to the caves is extra). You will proceed to Venice Airport to check-in for your direct Air Malta flight leaving at 4.10PM with estimated arrival time in Malta at 6PM.
