We meet at the airport at 04.50 am for our 06.50 am Ryan Air flight to Treviso. Upon our arrival at around 08.50 am, our coach will transfer us to Lake Bled. En route, we shall stop to our first optional excursion Postojna Caves, the longest cave system in the country (over 20km). We will have a guided tour of these caves by means of a small train which will last about an hour and a half (entrance to the caves is extra and it has to be booked and paid in Malta).
On Tours 1, 2, 4 and 5, we will be accommodated at Hotel Kompass (4*). Whilst on 3, we will be accommodated at Hotel Park (3*).
Dinner at the hotel (extra).
After breakfast at the hotel there will be an optional day-long excursion. We will first explore Bled, famous for its beautiful Lake Bled. A small island in the middle of the lake is home to the Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church; visitors frequently ring its bell for good luck. Perched on a rock overlooking the lake is the iconic Bled Castle. After visiting the castle (entrance to the castle is extra), we will make our way to Bohinj Valley, recognisable by its periglacial Lake Bohinj. The legend states that once upon a time when God was dividing the world among people, having divided almost all of it, he noticed a group of people standing by the side and not struggling to get to the front. He took pity on them, seeing how patient and modest they were. Therefore he gave them the most beautiful part of his own world. This is now called Bohinj – after God, who is called “boh” by the locals. You can take a cable car (extra) to Mt. Vogel where you will get the impression that you can almost touch the peaks of the Julian Alps. For those who prefer something which is more relaxing we suggest a boat ride (extra) across the lake to the other end. Supper at the hotel (extra).
Breakfast will be followed by an optional excursion to BTC City, one of the largest shopping and entertainment complexes in Europe, with over 450 shops. We will then make our way to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital city and 2016’s European Green City. Ljubljana bears traces of a rich and dynamic history spanning five thousand years. Dinner at the hotel (extra).
Breakfast will be followed by another full day optional excursion. We will make the first stop in the city of Klagenfurt, located in southern Austria and surrounded by several forest-covered hills and mountains. The excursion will then take us to Mini Mundus, the miniature world at Lake Wörthersee, where with approximately 150 models of famous structures, trains and ships, one can take a trip around the world in miniature format, in one day! Visiting the Sydney Opera House, strolling under the Eiffel Tower, taking a picture in front of the Taj Mahal, enjoying an ice cream in front of St Peter’s Basilica, admiring the Statue of Liberty, and many more (entrance extra) . Dinner at the hotel (extra).
Breakfast will be followed by another optional full day excursion, starting with a visit to Pericnik Waterfall with a chance to enjoy some breath-taking views. Our excursion continues at Vintgar Gorge, a gorge carved by the river Radovna. Over centuries, the stream has created many erosive features such as pools and rapids, and terminates in a picturesque 13m waterfall (entrance extra). This excursion involves a substantial amount of walking.
After breakfast there will be an optional excursion, where we will visit Izola, an old fishing town, where we will take a boat ride around the coast to reach Piran (extra and must be pre-booked and paid in Malta. Prices €18 per Adult, €12 per Child 6-11yrs). We will then continue the excursion of this town (on foot) and have some free time for shopping and/or sightseeing. Dinner at the hotel (extra).
Following breakfast there will be an optional visit to the Julian Alps and the Trenta Valley. In the modern world it is easy to get fed up with the rapid pace of life. Constantly under stress, we never have enough time to relax and find peace. In the Julian Alps, time stops for a moment or two. The mighty mood of nature settles in the climber’s soul at any time of year, on any path, whether we are alone or in company. The Trenta Valley is remote from the everyday hustle-and-bustle of city life. Throughout the year this valley, where seasons seem to change slowly, is a retreat for the body and mind and a well of energy and joy of life. The valley is carved deep into the heart of the mountains in the form of a horseshoe and it opens up into wild side gorges. Dinner at the hotel (extra).
A packed breakfast will be provided, due to our early departure from the hotel. Our coach will transfer us to Treviso Airport for our Ryan Air flight back to Malta scheduled to depart at 09.15 am.
