You will meet your tour leader at Malta International Airport at 5:15AM to check in for your direct Air Malta flight to Vienna, which leaves at 7:15AM. Upon arrival at around 9.30AM you shall proceed to Poprad in Slovakia. On your way, you will stop in Banska Bystrica. It is the cultural and economic centre of central Slovakia. You will pass by the top attraction of this city – the Church of St. Elisabeth. In the afternoon, you will proceed to your hotel in Poprad – Hotel Satel 3* for check-in. You can join our tour leader for a familiarisation tour.
After breakfast, you can join an optional excursion to Zakopane, one of Poland’s most popular towns. Zakopane is a resort town in the Tatra Montains popular with skiers in winter and with hikers and climbers all year round. You will have a full day to visit this town full of wooden houses, traditional restaurants and shops. You will return back to Poprad after the excursion.
After breakfast, you can join another full day optional excursion to Poland. You will start your day by visiting a UNESCO Heritage site; the Wieliczka Salt Mine (entrance included) – which is a must see whilst in Poland! With a guided tour, you will experience this magnificent place all made from rock salt. This tour will continue to the cultural city of Krakow; whereby you will pass by the main city attractions including; Wawel Cathedral and Wawel Royal Castle and St Mary Basilica (entrances extra to be paid at the ticket office for those interested to visit these sites). You will have ample time for further sightseeing in this beautiful town. Return to your hotel in the evening.
After breakfast, you can join an optional full day excursion to the Spiš Region where you will visit the Unesco Listed Towns Kežmarok, Levoca, Spišská Kapitula. The town of Kežmarok has always been the centre of education in the region and the starting point for trips in the High Tatras. The pride of Kezmarok is the Protestant Wooden Articled Church. This unique wooden building made of yew and red spruce wood was built without using a single metal component. The Baroque interior of the church is also made of wood (entrances extra to be paid at the ticket office for those interested to visit the church). The historic town Levoča, situated in the east of the Spiš region, is a true cultural and historic jewel among the Slovak towns. The Spiš town of Levoča is one of the most visited by tourists in the country (entrances extra to be paid at the ticket office for those interested to visit the Basilica of St. James in Levoca). Another town that you will visit in this tour is the well-known ecclesiastic town of Spišská Kapitula. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is mostly referred as the Slovak Vatican. Today is the seat of the Bishop of Spiš and the centre of church administration. (Entrances extra to be paid at the ticket office for those interested to visit the Cathedral). You will return back to our hotel in Poprad late in the evening.
After breakfast, you will leave Poprad to continue your journey to the Slovakian capital, Bratislava. En route, you will stop at Trencin. Trencin is a city in western Slovakia situated close to the Czech border. You will pass by Mierové Námestie and Peace Square. Upon arrival in Bratislava you shall be transferred to Crowne Plaza Hotel – 4* followed by check-in. Afterwards, you can join a familiarisation tour with the tour leader.
After breakfast at the hotel, you can join a half day optional excursion to the city of Bratislava where you will pass by the main attractions including the National Theatre, the Philarmonic Building and the 14th century Old Town Hall; the oldest city hall in Slovakia and one of the oldest stone buildings standing in Bratislava. You will then proceed to visit the Bratislava Castle Gardens; found directly above the Danube river in the middle of this charming city. Return to your hotel at the end of your excursion.
After breakfast, you can join an optional excursion to the Hungarian capital, Budapest. A unique city with a youthful atmosphere, a world-class music scene, and also offering Natural Thermal Baths. One can say that Budapest is one of Europe’s most delightful and enjoyable cities. Throughout the excursion, you will pass by Heroes’ Square which is the largest square in Budapest, the Millennium Monument, Parliament, Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion amongst other places (entrances for those interested in visiting churches etc, will be extra and paid at the ticket office). You will return back to Bratislava late in the evening.
After breakfast, check-out from the hotel and you will proceed to Vienna, Austria. You will start with a visit to Schonbrunn Castle (entrance optional). You will continue to Vienna which is the capital and largest city of Austria. You will pass by its attractions, the Volksgarten, The Austrian Parliament, St.Stephen’s Cathedral amongst other places (anyone interested in visiting the cathedral has to pay extra at the ticket office). You will proceed to Vienna International Airport where you will check-in for your direct Air Malta flight leaving from Vienna at 7.40pm with an estimated arrival time in Malta at 9.50pm.
