You will meet your tour leader at Malta International Airport at 8PM to check-in for your direct flight from Malta to Moscow departing at 10.20PM with an estimated arrival time in Moscow at 03.20am on Sunday 11th August.
From the airport, you will proceed for an orientation tour of Moscow by night with an English speaking guide which will include views of the Kremlin from across the Moskva river. You will proceed for breakfast in a restaurant in the centre of Moscow followed by a visit to the Red Square, the St.Basil`s Cathedral, the Mausoleum of Vladimir Lenin, and many other sights including, the Church of Christ the Saviour, Arbat Street, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Bolshoi Theatre, Memorial Victory Park and Poklonnaya Hill. Your coach will then take you to Vega Best Western Plus Hotel Moscow – 4*. Buffet dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast, the excursion for today will be the Moscow Kremlin Tour which incorporates monuments of the architectural ensemble of Cathedral Square, including the Assumption, Archangel and Annunciation cathedrals, the Church of Laying Our Lady’s Holy Robe, the Patriarch’s Palace with the Twelve Apostles’ Church and the Ivan the Great Bell-Tower complex (entrance to Kremlin extra). In the afternoon, you will proceed to a Metro Tour of Moscow’s Soviet-era metro stations (entrance extra) as you learn how the lavish Moscow subway architecture was designed to express a bright, bold new Soviet future. Admire the extravagant décor, chandeliers and sculptures at the stations, including Mayakovskaya, with its iconic mosaics. Buffet dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast, you will have a full day excursion to Sergiev Posad, a city known for the 14th-century Trinity Lavra St. Sergius monastery complex. The complex’s Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles (or Assumption) has blue and gold onion domes and interior frescoes. The Trinity Cathedral houses the tomb of St Sergius. Bells ring from a towering blue-and-white belfry (entrance to the Monastery extra). Buffet dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast, you will depart to St Petersburg by train aboard the SAPSAN. City tour of St Petersburg including a photo stop of the Church of our Saviour on Spilled Blood, one of the city’s landmarks, as well as several photo stops. The coach will then take you to Holiday Inn Moskovskye Vorota, St Petersburg – 4*. This evening you are invited to join a tour of St Petersburg by night (extra) discovering the beauty of this city, admiring the sparkling Winter Palace, see the shimmering domes of St Isaac’s Cathedral and Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, trace the lamplit embankments of the Neva River, and learn about the history and architecture from your English speaking guide.
After breakfast, you will have a full day excursion to the town of Pushkin (Tsarskoye Selo), where you will find a jewel of Russian baroque architecture – Catherine Palace with the Amber Room inside, which is considered to be one of the best sites in the region (entrance to the Palace extra). Buffet dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast, you will have a full day excursion to Peterhof Palace (entrance extra), a series of palaces and gardens. Peterhof was built in the early eighteenth century by Tsar Peter the Great as a magnificent palace and park complex meant to rival France’s Versailles. Buffet dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast, you will visit Peter and Paul Fortress (entrance extra) – Originally built to protect the city from Swedish attack, the fortress soon became Russia’s Tower of London, a place for political prisoners, including Peter the Great’s own son. Later you will travel to The Hermitage (entrance extra) –The Tsar’s former Winter Palace and four other buildings that house one of the world’s premier art collections. Your two hour guided tour visits display rooms with masterpieces by Da Vinci, Rafael, Monet, Rembrandt, and Renoir. Designed by Rastrelli, the Baroque Winter Palace boasts patterned parquet floors, ornate staircases, molded and decorated ceilings. Then you will take a Boat cruise* (extra) across the canal. Dinner in a restaurant and afterwards you will be transferred to St Petersburg International Airport
You will depart from St Petersburg at 2.55am on a direct Air Malta flight to Malta arriving early in the morning at 6.15am.
