You will meet with your tour leader at Malta International Airport at around 4.30PM to check-in for your direct Air Malta flight to Lisbon, which leaves at 6.40PM. Upon arrival, at around 9.00PM, you will be transferred to Hotel Mundial – 4* in Lisbon for check-in.


After breakfast, you can join an optional full day excursion whereby you will first stop at the charming village of Sintra, which offers sceneries of extraordinary beauty and was the former summer residence of the Portuguese kings. Listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, the cultural landscape of Sintra gathers the perfect combination between nature and building heritage. One can visit the historical centre of the village and admire the unique Sintra National Palace (Entrance Included) easy to identify due to its unique cone figured chimneys and a diversity of architectonic styles from different centuries. You will have free time to visit the traditional shops of the historical centre on your own & have lunch. The tour will continue towards Cabo Da Roca, which forms part of the Sintra – Cascais Natural Park. This cape is renowned since it’s the westernmost point of Europe. You will then pass by the Praia do Guincho which is a popular Atlantic beach mostly for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. Before heading back to Lisbon, you will have the time to stop at the Boca do Inferno (Mouth of Hell) a scenic cliff formation from the rough ocean waves forcing to form this cave.  On your way back to Lisbon you will have the chance to experience panoramic scenery of the fishing village of Cascais and even Estoril which is well-known seaside resort.  Return to hotel at end of excursion.


After breakfast, you can join an optional full day excursion to Óbidos, Alcobaça & Nazaré tour.   You will star with a brief walking tour through the streets of Óbidos.  Óbidos is a charming medieval village enclosed between walls and for several reigns was offering as the wedding present for the queens of Portugal.  This beautifully preserved town enchants for its authenticity of Portuguese homes.

From Óbidos you will proceed to Alcobaça and visit the impressive Monastery of Alcobaça (Entrance Included) which has been built as a result of the promise made by the first King of Portugal – D. Afonso Henriques, during the conquest of the town of Santarém from the Moors. Visit the Monastery highlighting two masterpieces of Gothic sculpture in Portugal: the tombs of King Pedro and Ines de Castro, who were involved in a tragic love story in the Middle Ages.

Then you will continue your tour to Nazaré, a town of strong fishing traditions. From the cliff top Sítio, you have the possibility to admire the immense maritime landscape and the huge sandy beach of Nazaré.  Return to the Hotel in Lisbon late afternoon.


After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a half day optional excursion to visit Lisbon, capital of Portugal and the famous city of the 7 hills.  You will be transferred to the historical quarter of Belém which celebrates the epic of the Portuguese Discoveries. You will visit the magnificent Jerónimos Monastery (Entrance included) dated from the 16th century and master piece of the Manueline architecture.  It is recommended (not included) to experience the ‘Pastéis de Belém’ in the old bakery with the same name. It is believed that pastéis de nata were created before the 18th century by Catholic monks at the Jerónimos Monastery in the civil parish of Santa Maria de Belém, in Lisbon. You will pass by the Belém Tower, built in the 16th century to defend the harbour of Lisbon, being nowadays one of the ex-libris from Lisbon. Next final stop will be at the river Tejo bank by the Monument of the Discoveries, built in 1960 to honour “Infante D. Henrique” and the Portuguese explorers. Afterwards, you will proceed to Lisbon Downtown “Baixa”, famous quarter that was totally rebuilt after the big earthquake in 1755. Last but not least, a small walking tour in downtown and you will have the chance to visit the Rosso Square. Return back to the Hotel.


After breakfast, you will be transferred to your second hotel in Porto – Clip Hotel – 3*. En route you will stop for a visit to Fatima. Today marks the Anniversary of the 4th Apparition of Our Lady.  Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims and tourists from around the world visit the Sanctuary of Fatima on an annual basis. Many come to participate in the celebrations commemorating the apparitions of Our Lady to Lucia Santos and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto. There will be the International Mass at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity.  After the check-in at the Clip Hotel, you will have a brief familiarisation with the tour leader.


Breakfast followed by an optional full day tour to Porto city. In this city, you will have a panoramic tour passing from Boavista Avenue, topped by the House of Music emblematic building, Cheese Castle, built in the 17th century, Brasil Avenue, Foz and continue along the river coastal road to downtown.  The start of this excursion will be in front of the Porto City Council, and then you will continue on through the main Avenue (Aliados Avenue), the perspective of Clérigos Tower, and one of the main monuments of this city, the Porto Cathedral. You will then pass the Douro River to Vila Nova de Gaia to visit a Port wine cellar and taste the famous Port wine (Entrance included). Return to the centre of Porto where here you will have free time for lunch in local restaurant (extra). In the afternoon, you will have a walking tour in Ribeira Quarter and proceed with a visit to the Stock Exchange Palace, a 19th-century building with a vast neoclassical façade built to impress and earn the credibility of European investors. (Entrance to the Stock Exchange Palace included). Return to the hotel.


Breakfast at the hotel followed by an optional full day Braga and Guimarães tour. Your first stop is to Braga – the Rome of Portugal. This town is the spiritual home of the country with thirty five churches chiming across the city. There is a rich cultural heritage marked by impressive religious festivals and architecture. You will have the chance to encounter and experience fine old burghers’ houses and noble mansions built of granite in an imposing style characteristic of this city.


You will continue to Guimarães known as the “cradle of the nation”, owing to the fact that it was the first capital of Portugal. It has a well preserved old town and profusion of historic monuments and

art treasures. The historic town has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the examples of architecture ranging from the 15th to the 19th centuries. You will even have the chance to visit the Braganca Dukes Palace (Entrance Included). However, the big draw of the city tends to be up on the hill at the Guimarães Castle (Entrance Included). The seven towered castle has a fantastic strategic viewpoint overlooking Guimaraes and the hilly, terraced countryside around.  Return to the hotel.


After breakfast and check out from the hotel, you will proceed for en route free excursion to Aveiro and Coimbra .  Aveiro is the capital of the Ria, a vast lagoon where the freshwater of the River Vouga joins with the sea, Aveiro is intersected by canals, genuine streets of water, along which can be seen gliding the brightly coloured boats known as “barcos moliceiros”. You will proceed to Coimbra, the city that holds a special place in the hearts of all the Portuguese. Rich in its history and said to be the oldest seat of learning in Portugal with a University founded on the 13th of August in 1290 by King Dinis. This makes it one of the oldest in the world. Six of Portugal’s Kings were born here and in 1139 until 1256 it was the chosen capital of the country. After these visits, you will proceed to Lisbon International Airport to check-in for your direct Air Malta flight, which should depart from Lisbon at 9.45PM and estimated to arrive back to Malta at 01.45AM of the early morning of Friday 23rd August.
