Friday 18 August

We meet the Tour Leader at the Airport at 11.00 am to check-in for our Air Malta flight to Milan departing at 12.55 pm.  Upon arrival, our coach will transfer us to Brescia. En route, we will be offering a free excursion to Bergamo. We will then proceed to our hotel – Una Hotel Brescia (4*).  Dinner at the hotel (extra).

Saturday 19 August

Breakfast followed by an optional trip to the Dolomite, where we will be able to admire the breathtaking scenery. We will stop in several charming villages en route, including Canazei, a ski resort in the heart of the Dolomite.  Dinner at the hotel (extra).

Sunday 20 August

Breakfast will be followed by an optional excursion to Venice. Here we will be transferred by boat (included in the excursion) to Piazza San Marco. We will have the opportunity to visit the Rialto Bridge, which is the oldest bridge spanning the Grand Canal; as well as the famous Bridge of Sighs and perhaps take a ride on the traditional gondola.  Dinner at the hotel (extra).

Monday 21 August

We will leave Brescia after breakfast and will head towards the city of Prato, in Tuscany.  On our way we will stop in Mantova and Modena, cities which are famous for their architecture. We will then proceed to Prato whereby we will be accommodated at the 4* Art Hotel Milano. Dinner will be not included at this hotel since there are various good restaurants near the hotel, offering meals at reasonable prices.

Tuesday 22 August

Breakfast and today’s optional excursion will take us to the historic city of Florence known for its art and architecture. It is known as the cradle of Renaissance for its churches and buildings and it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982. We will view the jewel of Florence, the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore, known as the Duomo with its magnificient dome built by Filippo Brunelleschi. Other landmarks to be admired are the Ponte Vecchio, which stands out as a striking feature due to the multitude of shops built upon its edges and the Arno River which cuts through the old part of the city.

Wednesday 23 August

Today’s optional excursion will take us to Pisa, known worldwide for its Leaning Tower.  From here we will proceed to the seaside resort of Viareggio, home to the famous Carnival of Viareggio.  Our last stop will be in San Gimignano, the famous walled medieval hill town in Tuscany. San Gimignano, known as the “city of beautiful towers,” had 72 towers in its heyday. Now 14 remain, and, rising above Tuscany’s Elsa Valley, they make the town look like a medieval dreamscape.

Thursday 24 August

Breakfast and we will depart from Prato. On our way to Rome we will make a stop in the medieval city of Siena.  Siena’s heart is its central piazza known as ‘Il Campo’, renowned worldwide for the famous Palio run here, a horse race around the piazza which takes place twice every summer. Movie audiences worldwide can see Siena and the Palio in the James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace.  While in Rome we will be staying at the 3* Hotel Portamaggiore. Dinner will be not included with this hotel since there are various good restaurants near the hotel.

Friday 25 August

Breakfast will be followed by a full day optional excursion of Rome during which we will see its most famous landmarks – Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, Piazza Venezia and the Vatican.

Saturday 26 August

Breakfast. Last day of some further sightseeing and shopping. At around 11.00 pm we shall be transferred to Rome’s airport from where at 12.25 am we will fly back to Malta.
