We meet at the airport at 10.25 am for our Lufthansa flight departing to Frankfurt at 12.25 pm. Upon arrival, our coach will transfer us to our 3* Hotel situated in Strasbourg- Best Western Monopole Metropole. Assignment of rooms.
Breakfast, followed by a full day optional excursion along the Wine Route. We will start with a visit to Colmar, the home town of sculptor Frederic Bartholdi the creator of the Statue of Liberty. We will then proceed on to the medieval castle of Haute Koenigsbourg (entrance included) which dates back to the 12th century.
After breakfast, we leave for a full day optional excursion to the Rhine Falls and Isle of Mainau. The Rhine Falls (entrance extra) are the widest plain waterfalls in Europe. You will have time to stroll a bit around and whoever wants can take a boat ride (extra). We will then proceed to the Isle of Mainau (entrance extra), a garden island and a model of excellent environmental practices. Besides the beautiful flowers there is a park landscape with views on the lake. There is also a greenhouse with tropical climate and thousands of butterflies.
Breakfast and afterwards you can join us for an optional excursion to Offenburg, an old and charming city situated by the Kinzig River and surrounded by vineyards which are very renowned with this area. We will then proceed to the Medieval town of Gengenbach.
Breakfast. Today’s optional excursion will take us to Heidelberg, with its beautiful hillside setting and home to the oldest German University. This quaint town, famous for its castle, from where one has an absolute nice view of the city, has lured numerous writers and artists like Mark Twain, Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Hölderlin, Victor Hugo, and Robert Schumann, to name a few.
Breakfast and we will head towards the Europa Theme Park, optional (entrance included) for a thrilling day. This theme park is the biggest and the most popular in Germany and apart from roller coasters, one can also find shows and water rides, so don’t forget you swim suit. Not to be missed is the Silverstar megacoaster, Europe’s highest and third fastest roller coaster, actually sponsored by Mercedes Benz.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, optional, we enter the Black Forest region and our first stop will be in Triberg, a town that actually lies in the middle of the Black Forest. The first cuckoo clocks originated from here, so whoever wishes to acquire one of these, Triberg is definitely the best place for them. This town is also home to the largest cuckoo clock in the world. In Triberg we find Germany’s highest waterfall (entrance extra and there are a substantial number of steps involved). From here we proceed to the spa town of Titisee, surrounded by the lake bearing it’s same name. Free time so that you can enjoy this heavenly place.
Breakfast. In the afternoon we will be transferred to the airport for our return flight which should depart at 1.20pm. We will be arriving at Malta at around 3.50pm.
